A highly innovative modern drummer who intertwines genres of modern jazz, urban soul, hiphop, and funk into eclectic rhythms while anchoring down the melody. From his subtle brush technique to vibrant fast beats, he fearlessly adds elements of acid jazz, pop, and the avant garde into his meticulous timing. Mr. Jones is a leading drummer and percussionist who has appeared and recorded with many of today’s legends in music: Lou Donaldson, Stan Getz, Freddie Hubbard, James Moody, Phyllis Hyman, and Chaka Khan.

Chris Hunter, Saxophones/Flutes
Saxophonist and flutist from the London jazz and rock music scene, Mr. Hunter received acclaim for his earl y work with jazz orchestras and on recordings with pop artists to classical composers. Mr. Hunter arrived in New York in 1983 to play with Gil Evans and The Monday Night Orchestra. His playing soars from soulful jazz to upbeat modern rhythms that brought critical acclaim. He has recorded and performed with Michel Camilo, Sheena Easton, Hiram Bullock, Jonathan Butler, the Manhattan Transfer, Flora Purim, Airto Moreira, Sting, and Tania Maria as well as for television and advertising.
Berardo “Chacho” Ramirez, Drums/Percussion
Multi-percussionist on drums, congas, djembe, and bongo, Mr. Ramirez brings an energetic and colorful approach to rhythmic timing. A true “conguero,” he developed a multitude of musical styles from the cultures in New York City, especially from Afro-Caribbean, Latin, and Cuban music and the originality of artists such as Candido. Mr. Ramirez is a versatile player with a global repertoire of sound from energetic Latin, bossa nova, salsa, and flamenco to fusion and funk. He is also a composer of contemporary jazz, pop, and hip/hop rhythms who has produced work used on radio and for theater. Mr. Ramirez’s has recorded and appeared with leading artists such as Ahmad Jamal, Bo Diddley, Claudio Roditi, and Dr. Mambo and the Experience, among his many performances in jazz orchestras and clinics as an educator.
